Anglican priest resigns, accuses church of taking his wife

An Anglican cleric, Rev Canon Lumen Eboh, has resigned from his office as a priest of the Anglican Communion.

The priest who disclosed his resignation at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Monday alleged that some forces in the church had caused his wife to leave him, and quartered her at an undisclosed place.

He accused his diocesan bishop (name withheld) of witch-hunt and land grabbing, and an attempt to arm-twist him into making him a member of the board of a ministry he founded privately.

Eboh who owns a charismatic congregation and prayer ministry known as God in Action Adoration Ministry cited harassment, instigation and conspiracy by the diocesan authorities of the Anglican Diocese as reasons for his resignation.

He said: “As I speak, my wife is living differently in an apartment paid for by someone who knows that she is someone’s wife.

“I am only a priest permitted by my communion to enter the sacred institution of marriage. As a married man, I had very private moments with my wife and we shared endearing words just like every young couple. With the crash of my marriage, I have sought to reorder my life, but those fighting me have even sent young women here in an attempt to use prospects of marriage to malign my character and reputation.”

Eboh noted that his involvement in charismatic activities was at the centre of his conflict with the Bishop, who he accused of high handedness, intimidation and conspiratorial manipulations, leading to his decision to resign.

The priest who is a radio and televangelist also accused the bishop of insisting that the registered trustees of the adoration ministry be altered to include the bishop and his wife, a condition he resisted on the basis that God did not reveal the bishop to him as a vessel in the ministry.

He alleged that his refusal to include the Bishop as trustee as demanded and to hand over landed property of the adoration ministry to him set him on a collision course with the bishop.

Ash Wednesday’s changing tradition

Ash Wednesday is today. It marks the first day of Lent in Western churches. The ashes symbolize penance and the dust from which God made people.
When priests mark Christian’s forehead with the ashes they often say, “Repent and believe in the Gospel,” or “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Lent, which lasts 40 days not including Sundays, is a season of prayer, penance and fasting in preparation for the Easter season.
But the tradition has changed throughout the years. It’s less strict than it used to be.

How the ashes are made
Christians celebrate Palm Sunday as Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem prior to his crucifixion.

They hand out palm leaves to people who attend church and some palms are saved and burnt into ashes so it can be used for next year’s Ash Wednesday.

We are using this opportunity to wish our clients worldwide happy Ash Wednesday as they reflect on themselves.

Fact Check: Who is the popular Evangelist called “Mummy G.O”, why is she trending?

Written by Matarazee Ayodele

In the mist of hustling and bustling of 2021 the country has been entertained by some men of God like prophet Odumeje aka ‘indaboski’ who claimed to have gone to hell, fought with the devil and won the wrestle. One of the preachers who caught the attention of the internet towards the end of 2021 is Pastor Funmilayo of Mountain of solution in ogun state.

She came prepared with tons of controversial and hilarious revelations. Her prophecies and preaching about heaven and hell fire earned her the nickname “Mummy G.O”.

Evangelist Funmilayo came with different style unlike other ‘sensational’ pastors that has entertained the country in the past.

The evangelist is responsible for a prophecy which revealed Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh is not a human being by birth.

She further claimed that all footballers are going to hell and all men on skin haircut are also candidate of hell fire.

Mummy G.O said she was originally a man from Egypt fighting war but was later sent for IT there after which she was sent to Nigeria and was reborn as a woman.

Below are some of the claims;

The question still remain, who is Mummy G.O and why is she trending when she is supposed to be like other men of God.
Which of her comments and prophecies Caught your attention?

Hurray!…. It’s 2022, Do you have a New Year Resolution

Written by Matarazee

A New Year Resolution has now become more of a cliche than what it’s meant to be exactly. Having a New Year Resolution is primarily the westerners culture but has now been imbibed and adopted by other continents.

New Year Resolution is a resolution or decision to adopt a new way of life and desist from some. This is when people look at themselves and say “This year, I want to be this and don’t want to do that again”,
It is just normal for humans to want to change in certain ways since change is the only thing that is constant.

The clause in having a New Year Resolution is that, most people have a resolution for the New year but later loose focus and go back to their old habit.

The only way to having a New Year Resolution and following it till the end is to be focus and determined.

Below are list of some of the basic New Year Resolution we should make:

  1. Make friends with successful people and occasionally buy them gift and surprise them with lunch because successful people always give and hardly get, so when you give them, they value the gift a lot.
  2. Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy.
  3. Show kindness to everyone. Some small boys today will be big boys tomorrow. The biggest dog in the neighborhood was once a puppy. And keep the information/secret to yourself.
  4. Always plan ahead and be proactive. He that plans the future works less in the future.
  5. Listen to speeches and messages from great teachers. Both religious and educational.
  6. Attend seminars and training on any area you need to improve yourself. Train the trainer, personal development, public speaking, sales etc.
  7. Have the habit of keeping a pen and a writing pad handy because ideas come in the form of flashes. The smallest pen is bigger and better than the biggest brain.
  8. Make sure at every point in time you are reading a book. If you spend 20 minutes reading daily, for 52 weeks you would have consumed 1,000,000 words.
  9. Grow in your relationship with God

10. Stay away from television as much as possible. You can watch educational channels. Men with big TV sit in front of them to watch men with big library.

11. Put control over your mouth, never say evil of any man is, what you are not certain of should not be said. Say good of all men.Always show appreciation for any good deed you received.

12. Always help someone in need.

13. Live a debt free life. What you can’t pay cash for is not your size.

14. Give out loans that you can part with as gift, so that you don’t destroy your business and relationship.

15. Create legitimate multiple source of income.

16. Save at least 10 percent of your income.

17. Invest a portion of your income. And be patient to see it grow. If what you have in your hands is not good to be called a harvest then it’s a seed, sow it.

18. Keep a good financial record of all income and expenses, so you won’t ask later “where did my money go”

19. Be involved in community service. Control traffic, free lesson class for students etc.

20. Keep getting better on your daily goals and dream, develop yourself on them and make sure you get to the top 10 % of your industry.

21. Make sure you engage in exercise. It keeps your brain alert and your body fit to enjoy your success.

22. Pray often, and know that for every success,God made it possible.

23. Develop a fighting spirit. Many give up at the least opposition. But opposition is mostly a sign of greater things ahead. Keep fighting.

24. Face your fears. One of the greatest tools the enemy employs to cripple people is fear. Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. The cave you fear to enter may hold the treasure you seek.

25. Doubt your doubt. Doubting is the enemy of the best. The people who do great exploits are calculated risk-takers.

Wishing you the very best of 2022

I am certain that if you follow the above strictly then you are good to go for the New Year 2022.

Happy New year esteem Readers/Audience

What do you know about the kingdom of Nri

Written by Matarazee

Do you know that the great Nri kingdom of Awka was founded in the 900 AD in the North Central of Igboland and is considered the oldest kingdom in Nigeria. It was a center of spirituality, learning, and commerce. The Nsukka-Awka-Orlu axis is said to be the oldest area of Igbo settlement and therefore, homeland of the Igbo people. . They were agents of peace and harmony whose influence stretched beyond Igboland. The Nri people’s influence in neighboring lands was especially in southern Igalaland and the Benin Kingdom in the 12th to 15th centuries. As great travelers, they were also business people involved in the long distant trans-Saharan trade. The development and sophistication of this civilization is evident in the bronze castings found in Igbo Ukwu, an area of Nri influence. Since we all knew of the involvement of the Benin kingdom in the trading of crafted Bronze so the Benin Kingdom became a threat in the 15th century under Oba Ewuare. Since they were against slavery, their power took a downturn when the slave trade was at its peak in the 18th century. The Benin and Igala slave raiding empires became the main influence in their relationship with western and northern Igbos, their former main areas of influence and operation. Upper northwest Cross River Igbo groups like the Aro Confederacy and Ohafia peoples, as well as the Awka and Umunoha people used oracular activities and other trading opportunities after Nri’s decline in the 18th century to become the major influences in Igboland and all adjacent areas. Much might not be said about them today but definitely they had a great impact when it comes to history in Eastern Nigeria.

The ENDSARS Battle cry tagged “SORO SOKE WEREY”

Written by Matarazee

During the EndSARS struggle Soro Soke werey became an household name, both young and old flow with the slang. Originally, Soro Soke Werey was coined by Veteran Nollywood Actress Toyin Afolayan better known as Lola Idije.
Soro Soke werey is a Yoruba slang which means Speak louder madman, this slang was used on social media to catch cruise by almost everyone but it gained popularity during the struggle to EndSARS.

Why the slang was adopted was because people felt the need to speak out to make a change, but in doing that definitely a voice will be needed and something to gear everyone up.

During that protest if you are asked to join the protest so your voice could be heard by the government on ending SARS but you refused Soro Soke Werey will be the word for you translated to Speak out/louder madman.
Social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram were mostly used during this struggle with the tag Soro Soke Werey. It even became Google’s most searched word.

Undoubtedly, Soro Soke Werey gave the struggle a huge voice and meaning

CITATION- The Movie- Review by Matarazee

Movie Review by Matarazee

A movie written by Tunde Babalola and produced by Kunle Afolayan was released in October, 2020 as a “Netflix Original”

When we talk about classical movies Kunle Afolayan is a name to reckon with same when you talk of meaningful productions in Nollywood. Citation is one of the brilliant productions which did not fall short of expectation (though not absolutely since it’s liable to Critic).
LANGUAGE Kunle adopts a multi-lingua style in the movie (Yoruba, French, Senegalese and Portuguese).
SETTING & LOCATION The domain location was Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The movie production set was taken to other African locations (Senegal and Cape Verde) helping in showcasing different languages and cultures.
PRODUCTION I would say the production is a bit confusing as the movie was depicting props set in the 90’s mixed with props of the present. The mix didn’t really infuse so well.
PICTURE QUALITY Kunle Afolayan’s signature picture quality of  cinematic theme could be seen. The colours were warm and endearing. Camera angles and panning enunciated the essence of the message of the story.
STORY You will agree with me that Kunle Afolayan has his own style of confusing audience just like William Shakespeare. You might need to watch the movie twice to get the sequence of events, though the message of the story that is based on sexual harassment in institutions of higher learning wasn’t shrouded.
CASTING METHOD Kunle Afolayan was able to bring together veterans (Wole Olowomojuore, Sadiq Daba) in the art of acting. He was able to infuse actors from other nationalities (Jimmy Jean-Louis, Adjetey Anang) and most especially, making names for rookies in the industry; Temi Otedola and Mrs. Ibukun Awosika.
Temi Otedola; the lead actor in the movie, acting the role of Moremi Oluwa will pass for someone who has been acting for a long time with her ability to perform her role convincingly in the over 2hour movie (a rare length for a meaningful nollywood movie production)
General Review“Citation” is a movie of 2hours 30 minutes by Kunle Afolayan which indeed worth every bit of it.The author tends to take us into a story about rape/sexual assault and inferiority complex.
Kunle Afolayan has done a good job by using casts who fit perfectly into the different characters/roles instead of using random actors, for instance; Moremi (Temi otedola). I haven’t seen her in a movie before but she fits into her role as a young, vibrant normal campus lady who was able to show to us what most ladies face in the hands of their promiscuous lecturers.
Kunle should have explored that story line more, like giving more background on the lecturer; Prof. Lucien N’dyare.
Why the movie is unique for me?
The sounds are plutonic, camera angles were shot well and story told without drifting away from its original ‘thesis’ like other movies do.
